Submarine!?!

Yes, they had a submarine, but it was not much. The submersible machine was called the Turtle. Since the British had a navy and the Continentals didn't, they came up with this plan A. It worked by flooding water into a tank to submerge and pumping it out to rise. The idea was to have one man (it could only fit one) sneak up to the British ship, plant a bomb on the hull of it, and get back to land. It didn't work, though they detonated the bomb in the harbor anyway.
Cannons
Muzzle-loading cannons were very difficult to work. Each one had a crew of between seven to 14 men, and each one had a special job. From calculating and adjusting the angle of the cannon to loading and lighting it. But the preparation was worth it. A cannon’s range was hundreds of yards, and if it was loaded with grape shot (a canvas bag filled with small projectiles), it could take out dozens of enemy soldiers at once.
